The Africa CIO100 Symposium is about the reality of evolving technology and where ICT leaders concentrate resources to take advantage of future business opportunities. The CIO 100 Annual Awards ceremony marks the climax of the symposium and showcases winners of the CIO 100 Awards. Here a range of participating projects are reviewed in their ability to resolve some of the toughest business problems. This is a signature event where organizations get an opportunity to showcase how technology supports their brands as well as goods and services to more than 300 influential tech and business leaders.
The CIO100 Awards is an acknowledged mark of enterprise IT excellence. It’s a celebration of 100 organizations (and their people) that are using IT in innovative ways to deliver value.
This year saw the 13th edition of the Africa CIO100 Awards. More than 300 CIOs, senior IT professionals, business executives from all over Africa congregated at the Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort and Spa Mombasa from 18 – 19th November to learn, share knowledge, and recognize their peers who have performed well in the industry.
Unga Holdings Limited was physically represented by Tom Mboya (Head of ICT), Pauline Karanja (Digital Transformation Manager), Emmanuel Kimathi (Business Systems Analyst & Security Architect) and Ronald Ouma SAP Solutions Lead).
UHL received 5 recognitions; 4 for the various projects listed below plus Tom Mboya was named Africa’s CIO of the year. The award for CIO of the year is based on a vote by about 350 ICT CIOs & opinion leaders across select countries in Africa from a pool of 10 nominated CIOs. This is issued based on what the CIO has achieved over the years including Digital Transformation, Coaching & Mentoring of team members and general ICT Service delivery.
The projects that put Unga in the top three finalist in Africa are as below:
Automating material control with eWeigh weighbridge system received the Gold Mark (Built and implemented in-house by Unga team, lead by Emmanuel Kimathi and Ronald Ouma.
Customer management system project received the Bronze Mark.
Fugo Smart received the Bronze Mark.
Ecommerce received the Ivory Mark
