For the past two years, Interra International monetarily donated to EARTH University, which provides financial assistance and other support for the programs and initiatives. This is a private, non-profit, international university that contributes in sustainable development through education in the agricultural sciences and natural resources.
EARTH University is in the heart of Costa Rica’s rainforest and selects young leaders from around the world with the disadvantaged rural regions. Their mission from their website is to help prepare leaders with ethical values to contribute to sustainable development and to construct a prosperous and just society. EARTH University has educated more than 2,100 graduates from almost 40 countries, primarily in the south and continues to grow. Below, are two sponsored students from EARTH University.

Class of 2018-2021
“Someone told me that in order to choose a career you had to ask yourself if you saw yourself doing that same thing for the next 20 years. I really hated office work and never liked being indoors. I love nature and grew to understand the importance of the environment, so I chose agronomy. I’m really interested in alternative agriculture systems; in the future, we will have to feed so many people and there won’t be as much land available. I really want to learn all I can about permaculture and aquaponics.”
Class of 2018-2021
“I really like Animal Production. I have learned so many new things. I am also very grateful because ever since I came here I lost the fear of math. I used to struggle with it, but thanks to the professors here, I have thrived. They really explain subjects well and tutor me whenever I need.”
